By Mindy, Senior Travel Planner You’re adults traveling on Disney Cruise Line. While you love everything Disney has to offer on the ship as far as world class service, rooms bigger than most other cruise lines and the Disney Characters, you would like to have a quiet day on the Beach without kids running around. Where do you go? Serenity Bay! by Michelle Ryan, Senior Travel Planner
Let me start off this blog with a word of caution – once you choose to sail concierge on a Disney Cruise Line cruise – it is going to be very…..VERY…..difficult to go back to a regular stateroom. So……consider yourself warned, if you choose to upgrade your next sailing to include this INCREDIBLE experience. By Chief Creative Officer, Beth. I am often asked what to pack for Disney Cruise Line vacations. Quite obviously, the most important items you'll want to bring in your carryons are your travel documents (passports, etc), medical needs and prescriptions, eyeglasses, and other things you can't do without. For clothes, you can find packing lists on the Disney Cruise Line site for various itineraries. When it comes to the "little" things that you place into the small corners of your luggage, listed below are some suggestions. You might be able to find some of these items in the small stores onboard, or in a shop at a port of call, but I typically pack them in my bags ahead of time to save money, and also for piece of mind. 1. First Aid items (I like to use the travel packet sizes) including band aids, aspirin, tylenol, motrin, immodium, neosporin, benedryl, dramamine and whatever else you typically use. I also pack a small thermometer too. 2. Gum -- because you can't buy gum onboard. 3. Some dollar bills to tip for room service. I've got twin teenagers and they LOVE to order room service. 4. Small nightlight or glow sticks, or battery operated tea lights to leave in the stateroom bathroom, or on the floor near where someone might trip in the night while taking a bathroom break. 5. A ziploc bag with some scissors, tape, a sharpie, super glue (my daughters use it for manicure emergencies!), and a few cable ties -- in case you are securing a Fish Extender outside your stateroom. 6. A ziploc bag with charging cables, charger, battery packs, earphones, and all the stuff you need to live a "smart" life. Personally, I think a cruise is a time to "unplug" but I'm outvoted on that in my household. 7. While you can buy laundry supplies onboard, I bring my own. I pack a small ziploc bag with some laundry pods, fabric softener sheets, wrinkle release spray. I also bring a few clothespins too in case I hang something up in the shower, or clip the curtains together at night to shield out the light. 8. A ziploc bag containing a miniature bottle of dawn dishwashing liquid and some sponges to wipe down things, including to wash our reusable bottles and straws. 9. Packing cubes: I use them in my luggage to help organize my clothes. Yup, each family member has a different color of packing cubes. It is super convenient to pull out the packing cubes and place into drawers. 10. In my carryon bag, I always pack an extra set of clothes in case something goes "south" with our family's travel plans and luggage goes missing. In our twenty cruises with Mickey and Minnie, our family has never had a major issue with lost luggage, if anything, we tend to bring too many things (personally, I pack way too many shoe choices). But, it is always good to expect the unexpected, and plan accordingly! Most importantly, pack a sense of humor and have an awesome vacation on the High Seas! By Tink's planner, Kathy F. I recently returned from the first sailing on the Disney Wonder since the industry shut down in March of 2020. My cruise was a four night sailing out of San Diego with two sea days and one stop in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. My traveling party was just my 5 year old daughter and I and we had an amazing time. By Tink's Planners, Meghan, Lynn and Mindy Several Tink’s agents were recently invited on a Disney Cruise on board the Disney Fantasy to experience first hand the many NEW safety protocols put in place in September of 2021 so that cruising can resume on all ships safely! We share our Disney Cruise Line transportation and pre-boarding testing experience here for you! To read more about on board experiences be sure to read this! By Tink's Planner, Dana. My family joined other Tinksters on the second sailing (August 13, 2021) on the Disney Dream. The Dream had not set sail since March of 2020, so being on the ship felt extra special. Here are some things that had changed since our last time onboard a Disney ship. By Tink's Planner, Missy. I was lucky enough to go on the first two Disney Cruise Line® sailings on the Disney Dream after they started sailing again in early August. By Tink's Owner, Kristin. On August 13th my family of four along with some other agents and their families embarked on a three night sailing on the beautiful Disney Dream. We were very excited to get back to sailing with Disney Cruise Line®! By Tink's Chief Creative Officer, Beth and Tink's Owner, Kristin. What do Mouse Ears and anchors have in common? Answer: Disney Cruise Line! For those of us who are wistful for a way to recapture that Disney Cruise Line feeling until its ships start sailing again, well Tink's has GREAT NEWS! A popup shop full of a lot of Disney Cruise Line merchandise, including Mouse Ears with anchors, is available for a limited time at the Marketplace in Disney Springs! Now through early September, the Marketplace Co-Op has an exclusive area where you can purchase a wide assortment of Disney Cruise Line items that you normally would have purchased while onboard one of the four ships in the Disney fleet. There is also a selection of items from Disney Cruise Line's private island in The Bahamas, called Castaway Cay. Once you are done shopping (or before you go works too!), stop by Dockside Margaritas where adults can enjoy a Pina Colada or a Strawberry Daiquiri in a plastic Disney Cruise Line embarkation glass. As you sip your drink, think about a future sail away party onboard one of the Disney ships and be comforted that we will be walking the decks again when Disney Cruise Line gives us all the "all clear." Who else is missing hearing the Disney Cruise Line ship horn? Those of us at Tink's certainly are missing hearing that horn, the sail away party music, and all the other fun to be had while onboard and during port adventures! Check out the gallery below for some of the awesome Disney Cruise Line items that the whole family can enjoy at Disney Springs! While the merchandise doesn't completely fill the hole in our hearts for Disney Cruise Line sailings, it certainly helps while we wait for them to begin again! Disney Cruise Line currently is booking through the end of Summer 2022 -- and we hope the Disney Wish will come online soon for booking. By Tink's Planner, Cathy. Last month, I spent an incredible day onboard the Disney Wonder while 2200 passengers went ashore. While the bulk of the passengers disembarked I enjoyed a quiet breakfast of specialty coffee and pastry by the nearly empty adult only pool called Quiet Cove. I stayed by the pool relaxing for a few hours, enjoying the warm sunny day and felt more like I was at a spa than on a cruise. A little later, my niece and I set off to explore the ship. We were able to enjoy much more of the Disney theming with the only 500 passengers onboard. We saw nods to different Disney movies and New Orleans more clearly, and so much more! We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Tritons. With only 3 tables occupied when we arrived the servers spent a lot of extra time joking and getting to know us. In the afternoon we walked the upper decks enjoying the beautiful day and all the free space. We walked up and down the stairs also, looking for the Disney ducks we had been finding, photographing and posting to Facebook. Because the ship was less full the spa even let us set up a small photo shoot for one of the ducks “having a spa day”! Character access (always very good on a Disney cruise) was even better with very small lines and each character spent lots of time talking/gesturing with us! In spite of some of my original plans, the day was relaxed and busy at the same time, and I never made it to the gym. I highly suggest anyone interested in a relaxing day try a day "onboard" like I did. You will NOT be bored if you stay onboard! By Tink's Planner, Kathy F. Being a vegetarian it can often be difficult and frustrating to find meals that fit my diet plan while traveling. I have been to countries where I have asked for a vegetarian meal and was given chicken or fish and the servers were surprised that this was not something I could eat. In 2004, I took my first Disney cruise and was pleasantly surprised with the vegetarian selection on board. Since then I have been on ten Disney cruises and I’m happy to say that the vegetarian options aboard have expanded and improved even more over the years. By Tink's Agent, Kathy F. I fell in love with Disney Cruise Line long before I became a mom. My husband and I even went on seven Disney cruises before our daughter came along, and we also got engaged on the Disney Wonder. When we became parents we could not wait to experience Disney Cruise Line as a family. We sailed with our daughter for the first time when she was just eighteen months old, and have done two more Disney cruises with her since then. Sailing with a toddler was much different but just as magical as my previous cruises. The biggest challenge was that I had to figure out how to keep my daughter happy while I also had fun. Through my personal experiences, I have gathered ten things to do with a toddler on a Disney Cruise Line sailing. by Senior Travel Planner Meghan Umlauf We recently sailed on Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas out of the Port of Civitavecchia for a 7 night Greek Isles cruise - as a platinum Disney Castaway Club member, why not Disney Cruise Line, you ask? Well this trip was to celebrate my 20th anniversary and sadly Disney didn’t offer a Greek Isles itinerary in 2019! So the choice of ship was made based on itinerary, and dates! We arrived in Rome a day and a half early - both to acclimate to the time change and see Rome! By Tink's Planner, Missy. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get married on a Disney Cruise Line vacation? I recently experienced this and I want to tell you all about it! After lots of hopes, dreams, and planning, my fiancee and I decided that we would take our families on a Disney Cruise to watch us get married. After months of wedding planning (getting the dress, deciding on flowers, getting the children all set with passports, making sure everything was all set), it was time to hop on the airplane and leave the cold weather behind. With ten bags plus a wedding dress in tow, we made it through O'Hare and to my favorite place ... Walt Disney World®! This was going to be an amazing wedding with our dreams coming true. By Tink's Planner, Shannon. When you think of Disney Cruise Line®, do you first think of it being only for families with children? Did you ever consider traveling as an adult without kids? I get asked numerous times why my husband and I go on Disney cruises when we have no children. I have great news: Disney cruise aren't just for families with children - they actually are quite popular with the Adult only population as well. There are so many aspects of doing a Disney cruise as an adult! Numerous areas aboard the ships, are specifically for 18 years or older, which other cruise lines sometimes don’t even offer. |
Our vacation planners their children and yes, even some of our Tink’s clients, have written about their experiences in the Neverland Blog. The magic of Disney comes alive in an immediate way when our children visit the Land of Mickey and Minnie.
